Does Review support the Leitner System?
No. The Review Engine is better than the Leitner System.
What is the Leitner System?
With the Leitner System, students sort questions in groups according to how well they know them. For example, if there is a question on group two, and you answered it correctly, you would move that question to group three. Then you will get tested on questions from group two more frequently than on questions from group three.
Why is the Review Engine better than the Leitner System?
The Leitner System is great if you do not have a computer, because you can easily group questions which you can recall with similar effort. The problem is that you might have in the same group a question that you know slightly better than another. Ideally, you would test the question that is a little harder more frequently. You cannot achieve that with the Leitner System without creating an unmanageably large number of groups. Fortunately for us, computers can keep track of how well you know each question without even using groups. The Review Engine makes use of this capacity so that you always get tested on your weaker spots more frequently, and you don't have to worry about groups at all.
